The beaches become such a part of your life while living near the coast. My fondest memories as a child are days spent with my family enjoying a day at the beach. From collecting seashells, surfing, body boarding, building sandcastles, soaking up sun, the day has endless enjoyable possibilities. We are fortunate to have beautiful beaches in our very own backyard.

The Carlsbad residents and visitors can enjoy the surf and sand at any one of the following locations:

South Carlsbad State Beach
This area encompasses South Ponto Beach, North Ponto Beach and Terramar Beach and is frequently enjoyed by the surfing community. There are also 220 campsites available. Early booking is strongly suggested. Additional information about camping can be found at

Carlsbad State Beach
Frazee State Beach/Tamarack Surf Beach, & Warm Water Jetty make up this string of beaches. There is a seawall build where leashed dogs are allowed on top but not on the bottom level. There is showers and public restrooms as well.

North Carlsbad State Beach
These beaches range from Pine Ave all the way to Oceanside and have shared ownership between coastal property owners and the state of California. These beaches are all open to the public.
